 Bed bugs are small, oval, wingless insects that reach about 1/5" in length. They belong to the insect family Cimicidae, which includes three species that bite people. Bed bugs have flat bodies and are reddish-brown in colour. They may sometimes be mistaken for ticks or small cockroaches. Bed bugs feed by sucking blood from humans or animals.
Bed bugs do bite and suck blood from humans. In the act of feeding on human blood, they may inject their own saliva into the bite area, leading to a localised area of itching and swelling. If scratched, the bite areas can become infected. Bed bugs are most active at night and bite any exposed areas of skin while an individual is sleeping. Bed bug bites may go unnoticed or be mistaken for flea or  mosquito bites. Bed bugs also have glands whose secretions may leave odours, and they also leave dark fecal spots on bed sheets and around their hiding places (in crevices or protected areas around the bed or anywhere in the room).
Most cases of bed bug infestation will require treatment by a pest control expert. Digrain and Perbio Choc RTU Pesticides by LODI, the pesticide that Clean Air Matters uses has extremely low toxicity to humans, animals and pets with an LD50 rating of some 2,000mg per Kg (roughly 100th the toxicity of most products used) and so, if needs be a room will be safe to use the same day as treatment. It also is yet to encounter any strain of bed bugs resistant to it and so is the most effective bed bug solutions available on the market today.
